Orphanides supermarkets sold shares that were held by the company Elias Houry Estates Limited, through its subsidiary Promptland Properties to Bank of Cyprus PLC.
The move was done, as the Orphanides Public Company is having a major restructuring of its debt. The selling price of the shares, which are for particular property, are of the amount of 5.4m euro. Promptland reserves for the first six months, the right to repurchase the property or shares held in the same price plus transfer fees costs. During the same period, if there is interest from a third party, the company reserves the right of first refusal, to re-purchase the property.
The company also said it expects loss-making results for the first half of 2012 which are due to four factors.
1. Decrease in sales due to the crisis and its impact on profitability
2. Deficit on revaluation of investments in bank bills
3. Increase in financial expenses
4. Increase of electricity expenses after Marie disaster.
